Shanghai Museum's Meow Night

The Shanghai Museum is currently hosting an exhibition titled 'The Secrets of Saqqara', featuring ancient Egyptian relics with a focus on feline imagery, including cat statues. The exhibition incorporates a unique event called 'Meow Night', allowing up to 200 visitors to bring their cats on Saturday nights, inspired by the ancient Egyptians' worship of Bastet, the cat goddess. This innovative event has been well-received, with tickets selling out for each of the six 'Meow Nights' held since its inception. Cats are checked for vaccinations and health upon entry, with veterinarians available on-site to ensure their well-being. The exhibition runs until August 17, 2025, and aims to connect modern pet owners with the historical significance of cats in ancient Egypt. Visitors have expressed their excitement, noting the personal connection to their cats' ancestral lineage.
