Ostrich Escapes Trailer, Disrupts Traffic in Sioux Falls

An ostrich caused a traffic disruption in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on Tuesday after it escaped from a trailer and wandered onto a busy four-lane road. Motorists reported the bird's presence around noon, prompting police and animal officials to respond. While waiting for help, drivers and bystanders attempted to coax the approximately 7-foot-tall bird off the road by offering food and gently nudging it. The ostrich was one of several being transported by an out-of-state traveler, who assisted in capturing the bird and getting it back into the trailer. Fortunately, the ostrich was unharmed during the incident, according to Sioux Falls Animal Control. No further details about the owner's destination were provided.
