Odisha Launches Subhadra Yojana for Women Empowerment

The Odisha government has launched the Subhadra Yojana, a financial aid initiative aimed at empowering women aged 21 to 60, providing them with ₹10,000 annually over five years. The scheme, which targets economically weaker sections and excludes well-off families and government employees, requires beneficiaries to have Aadhaar-enabled bank accounts. Each eligible woman will receive the amount in two installments, with payments made on Rakhi Purnima and International Women’s Day. Application forms will be available for free at various government centers, and a toll-free number has been established for inquiries. To promote digital transactions, additional incentives will be provided to the top digital transactors in local bodies. A high-level committee will oversee the scheme's implementation, ensuring transparency and accountability.
