Khan, Kodandaram Sworn in as Telangana MLCs

Senior journalist Amer Ali Khan and retired professor M. Kodandaram were sworn in as Members of the Legislative Council (MLCs) in Telangana under the Governor's quota on August 16, 2024. The oath was administered by Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy, with several state ministers present. Kodandaram, a prominent figure in the Telangana statehood movement and leader of the Telangana Jana Samiti, expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Revanthareddy and pledged to work for the welfare of workers and honor the aspirations of martyrs. Their appointments faced legal challenges, but the Supreme Court upheld their positions after an earlier ruling from the Telangana High Court had rejected them. Amer Ali Khan serves as the editor of 'The Siasat Daily', a significant Urdu newspaper in the region.
