Chicago Man Re-sentenced to 27 Years in Bomb Plot
Adel Daoud, a suburban Chicago man, has been resentenced to 27 years in prison for attempting to detonate a car bomb outside a downtown bar in 2012 as part of an FBI sting operation. Initially sentenced to 16 years in 2019, his sentence was increased following a successful appeal by federal prosecutors who argued the original term was too lenient. In addition to the bomb plot, Daoud was convicted of soliciting the murder of an undercover FBI agent and attacking a fellow inmate. The 27-year sentence will be followed by a lifetime of supervised release. Daoud's repeated attempts for early release, including a plea based on his mother's illness, have been denied.
