South Africa, Afghanistan Set for Historic ODI Series

South Africa and Afghanistan will compete in their first-ever bilateral One-Day International (ODI) series from September 18 to 22 at Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the UAE. This historic series was not part of the original Future Tours Programme but was organized following successful negotiations between the respective cricket boards. The two teams have previously faced each other during ICC World Cups, with South Africa winning both encounters. CSA Chairman Lawson Naidoo expressed excitement about the series, highlighting Afghanistan's growth as a competitive team in recent tournaments. ACB Chairman Mirwais Ashraf also emphasized the significance of hosting South Africa and the potential for future encounters. This series adds to South Africa's busy cricket schedule, which includes matches against Ireland shortly after.
