Mizoram on high alert

In response to ongoing political unrest in Bangladesh, which has resulted in Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's resignation and violent protests, Indian states bordering Bangladesh are enhancing security measures to prevent illegal immigration and potential unrest. Mizoram's Mamit District has mandated strict vigilance along its borders, directing the District Superintendent of Police and Border Security Force to conduct regular checks and patrols to deter illegal entry. Similarly, security has been heightened in West Bengal and Tripura, with alerts issued in Bihar, as authorities prepare for the possibility of an influx of refugees amidst reports of attacks on religious minorities in Bangladesh. The BSF has advised local villagers to avoid nighttime movement near the border, while Kolkata police have increased security near the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission. Additionally, the Nepali Embassy in Dhaka has issued safety advisories for Nepalis in Bangladesh and heightened vigilance along the Nepali border due to the unrest. This wave of security measures reflects the broader regional concern over stability and safety amid the crisis in Bangladesh.
