Cocaine Package Found in Florida Keys

Guests at the Islands of Islamorada resort in the Florida Keys discovered 16 bricks of suspected cocaine washed up on the beach, which were subsequently turned over to U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The Monroe County Sheriff's Office confirmed the find, noting that such discoveries have been frequent in the area this year. Earlier finds include 65 pounds of cocaine in June and packages blown ashore by Hurricane Debby. The Florida Keys are a known route for drug traffickers, who sometimes dump their cargo to evade detection, leading to these periodic beach discoveries.
