Floods in Sudan

Recent torrential rains and flooding in Sudan have resulted in at least 32 deaths and over 107 injuries across several states, with significant damage to approximately 5,575 homes. The city of Abu Hamad, a key location in the Nile River state, has reported 17 fatalities and widespread building collapses as residents evacuate due to fears of further destruction. The floods have exacerbated an already dire humanitarian crisis, worsened by ongoing conflict between rival security forces, displacing over 10 million people. Health officials are also warning of rising cases of waterborne diseases, particularly in Kassala state, amid concerns for those living in flood-prone areas. The Meteorological Authority has issued warnings of continued rainfall, urging residents to stay vigilant and avoid low-lying areas.
