Hurricane Ernesto Remnants Expected to Hit UK
The remnants of Hurricane Ernesto are set to impact the UK this week, bringing heavy rain and strong winds, especially to Scotland and the north-western regions. The Met Office has issued yellow weather warnings for Wednesday and Thursday, with expectations of 75 to 150mm of rain in certain areas, alongside gusts of 50-60mph. Although Ernesto has weakened to a tropical storm, it still carries significant moisture that will lead to unsettled weather across the country. Rainfall is expected to begin on Wednesday morning, with the most severe conditions predicted for Thursday afternoon when waves could reach up to five meters in height along the western coasts. Areas under alert include the Highlands, the Inner and Outer Hebrides, and much of western Scotland. The south and south-east of England may experience drier conditions, enjoying a respite from the worst of the storm.
