An 88-year-old woman tragically died after her vehicle accidentally plunged into a canal in Sunrise, Florida. The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. near 3730 North Pine Island Road. Despite immediate rescue efforts by neighbors, first responders, and the Sunrise Police Dive Team, the woman could not be saved and was pronounced dead at HCA Florida Westside Hospital. Witnesses reported that the woman had health problems and difficulty parking, which likely contributed to the accident. The investigation suggests she drove over a center parking block before entering the canal. The car, a silver Toyota sedan, sustained significant damage, including broken windows, and was later retrieved from the water.
