Hiroyuki Sanada Honored at EnergaCamerimage Festival
Hiroyuki Sanada, star and producer of the FX series Shōgun, is set to receive the inaugural award for best TV series performance at the EnergaCamerimage International Film Festival, marking a significant recognition for small-screen performances in the festival's history. Shōgun has also been nominated for a remarkable 25 Emmy awards, including Outstanding Limited Series, with Sanada nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama. The series, adapted from James Clavell’s classic novel, showcases 70% of its dialogue in Japanese, a bold choice that Sanada believes has resonated with audiences. Alongside Sanada, co-star Tadanobu Asano received his first Emmy nomination, highlighting the global appeal of Japanese-language productions. The festival will take place in Toruń, Poland, from November 16 to 23, coinciding with the growing acclaim for Shōgun in multiple award circuits. Sanada expressed pride in the show's authenticity and the positive reception it has garnered from viewers worldwide.
