Giuliani Bankruptcy Faces Potential Dismissal

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani is facing significant legal and financial troubles as he attempts to exit bankruptcy protection. Giuliani declared bankruptcy in December 2023 after losing a $148 million defamation lawsuit to Georgia election workers Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, whom he falsely accused of voter fraud. U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Sean Lane indicated he is leaning toward dismissing Giuliani's bankruptcy case, which would allow creditors to pursue other legal avenues to reclaim debts, including a $10 million sexual harassment claim from ex-employee Noelle Dunphy. Giuliani's creditors have accused him of misusing the bankruptcy process to delay payments and potentially hide assets. Dismissing the case would prevent Giuliani from reapplying for bankruptcy protection for 12 months and compel him to face the financial consequences of his actions. A decision is expected by the end of the week.
