Naples Mayor Heitmann Arrested for DUI

Naples Mayor Teresa Heitmann was arrested Wednesday night for DUI with a blood alcohol level of 0.15 or higher, significantly above Florida's legal limit of 0.08. The arrest followed a road rage incident involving a roundabout, where Heitmann allegedly tailgated another vehicle and was later found leaning on her silver Porsche, exhibiting signs of intoxication such as slurred speech and glassy eyes. Police reports indicate she failed multiple field sobriety tests, including the Walk and Turn and one-leg stand. Additionally, there were conflicting reports about a minor being in the vehicle at the time of arrest. Heitmann, who recently won her second term as mayor, was released on a $500 bond and awaits arraignment on September 18. This incident marks the second arrest of a Collier County official this year, following Rick LoCastro's battery charge.
