Leicester Celebrates 16th Annual Pride Parade

Leicester celebrated its 16th annual Pride event on August 31, attracting an estimated 20,000 attendees. The parade commenced at Humberstone Gate and proceeded through the city before concluding at Abbey Park, creating a vibrant display of colors along its 1.7-mile route. Participants expressed their excitement and highlighted the significance of Pride as both a celebration and a continued fight for equality, with many sharing personal stories about the importance of being true to oneself. Notably, attendees from across the East Midlands, including first-time participants, emphasized the event's role in fostering community and resilience against hate. In a similar vein, the 2024 Bermuda Pride Parade also took place on the same day, themed “Family Affair,” showcasing the global nature of Pride celebrations.
