Major Pedestrian Safety Improvements Underway Nationwide

Major pedestrian and traffic safety improvements are underway in various locations. In Mendham Borough, NJ, construction for state-funded sidewalk and road repairs on Phoenix Drive and Knollwood Drive will begin around July 30, including new ADA-compliant ramps. In Brooklyn, NY, the NYC Department of Transportation is implementing a series of upgrades on Atlantic Avenue to enhance pedestrian safety, including mid-block crossings, new pedestrian islands, and split-phase traffic signals. Additionally, Queens and Staten Island will see road closures for pedestrian and cyclist activities as part of the Summer Streets program. Pittsburgh's Department of Mobility and Infrastructure is also enhancing pedestrian safety at the Herron and Melwood Avenue intersection, following a traffic study that highlighted the need for better yield compliance.
