The incident occurred near Lake LeSage late Monday afternoon, where she became unable to walk, lost consciousness, and stopped breathing despite CPR attempts by her hiking partner and others. Backpackers contacted Michigan State Police through a delayed 911 text, which was relayed to the park's dispatch center. Emergency responders reached the woman Monday evening and stayed with the group until they were transported from the remote location the following morning.
