HBO's upcoming 'Harry Potter' television series will be led by 'Succession' veterans Francesca Gardiner as showrunner and Mark Mylod as director of several episodes. The series, described as a 'faithful adaptation' of J.K. Rowling's books, will span over a decade, with each season based on one of the seven books. Warner Bros Discovery announced that the series will feature a new cast and is expected to debut in 2026. Gardiner and Mylod bring extensive experience from their previous work on 'Succession' and other HBO projects. Casting details are yet to be decided, with younger characters from the first two books posing a particular challenge. HBO aims to bring 'Harry Potter' to new audiences while maintaining the integrity and beloved aspects of the original series.
