Rowling has gone silent on social media following a lawsuit filed by Algerian boxer Imane Khelif, who has accused her and other high-profile figures, including Elon Musk, of cyberbullying and perpetuating false claims about her gender. Khelif, who won Olympic gold in women’s boxing, was targeted after a controversial match that led to accusations she is transgender, despite her being biologically female and suffering from a condition known as Differences of Sexual Development (DSD). Following the legal action, Rowling deleted 27 tweets related to Khelif, although some of her inflammatory posts remain online. The lawsuit aims to hold accountable those who have contributed to online harassment against Khelif, highlighting the emotional toll it has taken on her. Rowling's silence and tweet deletions suggest a strategic retreat amid mounting scrutiny over her controversial comments on transgender issues. Khelif, however, remains resolute in defending her right to compete and has been vocal about the impact of the criticism she has faced.
