Karnataka Cabinet Approves Key Resolutions
The Karnataka Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, approved three significant resolutions opposing the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET), the 'One Nation, One Election' policy, and the delimitation of constituencies, which will be tabled in the State Legislature. These resolutions are expected to spark controversy and debate among lawmakers. Additionally, the Cabinet endorsed the Greater Bengaluru Governance Bill, 2024, aimed at decentralizing power under the proposed Greater Bengaluru Authority. The discussions also included a controversial private sector quota for local Kannadigas, which has faced backlash and is currently on hold. While State Labour Minister Santosh Lad advocated for the quota, other ministers expressed opposition to it. The Cabinet also deliberated on the topic of a 14-hour workday for software professionals and plans to consult with IT and ITES companies regarding this issue.
