NYC Installs Pizza Box Trash Bins in Parks

New York City has introduced specialized trash bins designed to accommodate pizza boxes in an effort to reduce trash can overflow and combat the city's rat problem. The bins, inspired by classic red-and-white checkered tablecloths from New York pizzerias, have been installed in five parks across the five boroughs, including Central Park, following a successful pilot there. NYC Parks Commissioner Sue Donoghue emphasized the importance of these bins in keeping public spaces clean and litter-free. Deputy Mayor for Operations Meera Joshi highlighted that this initiative is part of broader efforts by the Adams administration to improve the quality of life in the city. The bins are expected to help pizza lovers dispose of their boxes more easily, ensuring that parks remain cleaner and more enjoyable for everyone.
