Farhan Akhtar Discusses Casting Decisions

In a recent interview, Farhan Akhtar revealed that Akshaye Khanna was originally cast as Akash Malhotra in 'Dil Chahta Hai,' a role that eventually went to Aamir Khan. When Aamir expressed a desire to play Akash instead of the more serious role of Sid, Akshaye graciously agreed to switch roles for the benefit of the film. Farhan praised Akshaye's humility and willingness to let go of the role without any fuss. Farhan also mentioned that he initially approached younger actors like Hrithik Roshan and Abhishek Bachchan for the film but had to opt for an older cast when their schedules didn't align. Additionally, Farhan shared a similar experience with Hrithik Roshan, who stepped aside for Shah Rukh Khan to play the lead in 'Don.' Farhan is currently working on 'Don 3,' featuring Ranveer Singh and Kiara Advani.
