A tragic plane crash in Brazil's São Paulo state has resulted in the deaths of all 61 people on board, including 57 passengers and 4 crew members, as confirmed by the airline Voepass. The ATR-72 aircraft was on a flight from Cascavel to Guarulhos airport when it crashed into a residential area in Vinhedo, causing damage to only one house but no civilian casualties reported. Brazilian authorities are investigating the cause of the crash, with initial reports indicating a sharp altitude loss and warnings of possible icing conditions at cruising altitude. Videos of the crash have surfaced on social media, showing the plane engulfed in flames and smoke. This incident marks the deadliest airline accident since January 2023. The aircraft's black box has been recovered for further investigation.
