Clarence George, 63, has been charged with the murder of Julie Ann McDonald, who was found stabbed to death in her LaFayette, Georgia home on June 11, 2000. After years of investigation, the case was reopened in 2023, leading to George's arrest by U.S. Marshals in Birmingham, Alabama, on August 22. McDonald, a pharmacist, was discovered with multiple stab wounds, and investigators initially identified George as a suspect due to his possession of her checkbook, but the case went cold for many years. Renewed efforts, including technological advancements and witness re-interviews, eventually resulted in sufficient evidence to charge him. Authorities have not yet disclosed a motive for the crime. George is currently in jail in Alabama awaiting extradition to Georgia to face charges.
