Fire in Darlington
Emergency services responded to a significant fire at a derelict building on Valley Street North in Darlington, which broke out around 5:40 PM on Tuesday. The County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service deployed five fire engines to tackle the blaze, which sent large plumes of smoke across the town. Firefighters worked through the night, extinguishing the fire by approximately 2 AM, with ongoing checks to manage any remaining hot spots. An investigation has been initiated by both the fire service and Durham Police to determine the cause of the fire. Meanwhile, in unrelated incidents, firefighters are also addressing a large barn fire at Mildenhall Stadium in Suffolk and a fire at the Michigan College of Beauty in Monroe, Michigan, with no injuries reported in these cases. Residents near these incidents have been advised to keep windows and doors closed to avoid smoke inhalation.
