Elizabeth Francis Celebrates 115th Birthday in Houston

Elizabeth Francis, the oldest living person in the United States and the fourth oldest in the world, celebrated her 115th birthday on July 25, 2024. Born in Louisiana in 1909, Francis has witnessed significant historical events, including both World Wars and the Civil Rights movement. She attributes her longevity to her faith in God, speaking her mind, and eating whatever she wants. Francis celebrated her birthday with her family in Houston, enjoying a large vanilla cream sheet cake, her favorite. She lives with her 95-year-old daughter and is the oldest person in the world still living at home. Longevity runs in her family, with one sister living to 106 and another to 95.
