Tesla Recalls 9,136 Model X SUVs Again

Tesla is recalling 9,136 Model X SUVs in the U.S. due to roof trim pieces potentially detaching because of inadequate primer application, creating a road hazard and crash risk. This marks the second recall for the same issue since 2020, as the initial remedy was not robust enough to detect all instances of the fault. The recall affects 2016 model year vehicles; Tesla will test and reattach the trim at no cost to owners. This recall is part of a larger trend, with Tesla recalling 2.6 million vehicles in the first half of 2024, second only to Ford. Most Tesla recalls are usually resolved via over-the-air software updates, but this one requires in-person inspections and repairs.
