Walmart Recalls Great Value Apple Juice for Arsenic

Walmart has initiated a recall of over 9,500 cases of Great Value brand apple juice due to elevated levels of inorganic arsenic, which were found to be above the FDA's recommended limit of 10 parts per billion, specifically measuring at 13.2 parts per billion. The recall affects six-packs of 8-ounce bottles sold in 25 states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia, with a 'Best if Used by DEC2824' date. The FDA classified the recall as Class II, indicating that while temporary or medically reversible adverse health effects may occur, serious consequences are unlikely. Refresco Beverages US Inc., the manufacturer, initiated the recall voluntarily. Walmart has removed the affected products and is working with the supplier to investigate the issue. The FDA and health organizations warn that both short-term and long-term exposure to inorganic arsenic can pose health risks, including nausea, vomiting, and more severe conditions like cancer over prolonged exposure.
