McLaughlin-Levrone Wins 400m Hurdles, Breaks Record
Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone shattered her own world record in the women's 400m hurdles at the 2024 Paris Olympics, clocking in at 50.37 seconds to win her second consecutive gold medal in the event. She has now broken the world record six times, with her previous record set at 50.65 seconds during the U.S. Olympic trials in June 2024. American teammate Anna Cockrell secured the silver medal with a personal best of 51.87 seconds, while Femke Bol from the Netherlands won the bronze with a time of 52.15 seconds. McLaughlin-Levrone's victory was part of a successful night for Team USA, which also saw multiple medals in other track and field events. Despite the high expectations and fierce competition, McLaughlin-Levrone maintained focus on the hurdles and credited her success to efficient technique and mental fortitude.
