ISRO to Launch EOS-8 on August 16

ISRO will launch its third and final developmental flight of the Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV) on August 16, carrying the Earth Observation Satellite-8 (EOS-8). This marks the completion of the SSLV development project, enabling future operational missions by the Indian industry and NSIL. The SSLV, designed for rapid assembly and cost-effectiveness, is intended to boost India's share in the global space launch services market. The EOS-8 satellite, weighing 175.5 kg, will operate in a low Earth orbit and carries advanced payloads for applications such as disaster monitoring and environmental observation. After this demonstration flight, SSLV technology will be transferred to private companies for commercial missions. The mission underscores India's growing capabilities in space technology and its ambitions for future space endeavors, including the Gaganyaan mission.
