Uttarakhand Floods Claim Twelve Lives
Heavy rainfall across Delhi and Uttarakhand has resulted in significant casualties and destruction. In Delhi, six individuals died due to electrocution, drowning, and a house collapse, as over 100 mm of rain fell in a 24-hour period. Meanwhile, Uttarakhand experienced even more severe conditions, with twelve fatalities reported, including three from a family who died in a landslide, and two individuals electrocuted in Haridwar. The rain led to widespread flooding, house collapses, and missing persons, particularly in Haridwar, Dehradun, and Tehri. The India Meteorological Department has categorized the rainfall in both regions as extremely intense and issued alerts for continuing adverse weather. Rescue operations are ongoing, with emergency services responding to numerous incidents of waterlogging and infrastructure damage.
