California Woman Uses AirTag to Catch Thieves

A California woman, frustrated with repeated mail thefts, successfully used an Apple AirTag to track and catch the culprits. She mailed herself a package containing an AirTag, which was stolen and traced to a location in Santa Maria. Authorities, alerted by the woman, arrested two suspects, Virginia Franchessca Lara and Donald Ashton Terry, and found items believed to be stolen from over a dozen victims. The suspects face multiple felony charges, including identity theft, credit card theft, and burglary. The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office praised the woman for her initiative and emphasized the importance of involving law enforcement in such situations.
