Greek Coast Guard Rescues Migrants Amid Smuggling Tactics

The Turkish Coast Guard has rescued 38 migrants pushed back into Turkish waters by Greek forces, while also apprehending 59 other migrants and arresting two suspected smugglers. In a related case, two Turkish nationals have been detained in Greece for human trafficking following a deadly boat chase that resulted in the death of a Kuwaiti man. Smugglers are reportedly adopting increasingly dangerous methods, such as forcing migrants off speedboats to evade capture by the Greek coast guard. Recent incidents have highlighted the aggressive use of high-powered speedboats and the shift in smuggling routes amid heightened enforcement in the Aegean Sea. As of this year, approximately 31,500 migrants have illegally entered Greece, indicating a continuing crisis in the region.
