K C Venugopal of the Congress party has been appointed as the chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) in the Lok Sabha, a key financial oversight body. Other committees have also been constituted, with BJP leaders Sanjay Jaiswal and Baijayant Panda heading the Committee on Estimates and the Committee on Public Undertakings, respectively. These committees, including the PAC, will monitor government expenditures and the operations of public sector enterprises over a one-year tenure. Additionally, committees focused on the welfare of Other Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes, and Scheduled Tribes have been established, led by BJP members Ganesh Singh and Faggan Singh Kulaste. The formation of these committees marks a shift towards consensus rather than elections, contrasting with practices in previous Lok Sabhas. The Lok Sabha Speaker has yet to announce the department-related standing committees, which oversee various Union ministries and departments.
