Delhi-Dehradun Expressway First Leg Opening in November

The first leg of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, spanning 32 km from Akshardham to the Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE), is expected to open by November, significantly alleviating traffic congestion for commuters. This elevated segment includes nearly 19 km of elevated roadway and seven entry points for vehicles moving from Delhi to Uttar Pradesh, with exits at Khajuri Chowk, Sonia Vihar, and Mandola. Local traffic will utilize a six-lane service road, enhancing movement for local commuters as the National Highways Authority of India upgrades the entire stretch. Commuters entering and exiting in Delhi will be exempt from toll fees, while the expressway is projected to shift about 30,000 passenger cars from the congested Delhi-Meerut Expressway. Although the full 239-km expressway is slated for completion in December, minor delays in Uttar Pradesh could extend the timeline. The expressway is anticipated to reduce travel time between Delhi and Dehradun by approximately 2.5 hours.
