Liu Huanhua Wins Gold in Weightlifting
At the Paris Olympics, Emmanuel Wanyonyi of Kenya claimed victory in the men's 800m final, achieving a world-leading time of 1:41.19, which ranks him third all-time. Canada's Marco Arop secured silver with a new Americas record of 1:41.20, while Algeria's Djamel Sedjati took bronze in 1:41.50. In weightlifting, Liu Huanhua won China's fourth gold at the Games in the newly established men's 102kg category, lifting a total of 406kg, narrowly defeating Uzbekistan's Akbar Djuraev, who won silver with 404kg. Liu described the process of moving up weight classes as 'torture,' having to significantly increase his body weight through rigorous training and diet adjustments. Djuraev, who dropped from 109kg and faced challenges due to weight loss, acknowledged that it affected his performance. Belarusian Yauheni Tsikhantsou claimed bronze with a total of 402kg.
