Olympic Coach Samaresh Jung Faces Eviction in Delhi

Samaresh Jung, the national pistol shooting coach who recently returned from the Paris Olympics, has been issued a 48-hour eviction notice for his family's home in Delhi, which they have occupied for 75 years. The Land and Development Office (L&DO) claims the property is illegal as it belongs to the Ministry of Defence, despite Jung's assertions that he has been paying rent and taxes. Jung expressed his shock at the short notice and requested at least two months to relocate, questioning the urgency of the eviction. He has approached the Delhi High Court for relief, and the matter is scheduled for a hearing soon. The eviction notice affects around 200 families in the Khyber Pass locality, with Jung noting that he has no alternative housing in Delhi. This situation comes on the heels of Jung's significant contributions to Indian shooting sports, guiding athletes to multiple medals at the recent Olympics.
