A 36-year-old man was found dead slumped over a table at a Costa Coffee shop in Sandwell General Hospital, West Bromwich, on July 10, potentially hours after he had been discharged from medical treatment. Security staff discovered he had not moved since 1:30 PM, approximately three hours prior to the alert, and attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful. During this time, both the public and NHS staff, including doctors and nurses, reportedly continued their activities around the deceased without noticing him. The Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust has initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident, with the coroner also informed. Sources indicate that the coffee shop is frequently used by homeless individuals, which may have contributed to the lack of attention given to the man. The Black Country Healthcare Trust expressed condolences and is cooperating with the investigation.
