Shia violence in Pakistan
In response to the recent targeted killings of Shia Muslims in Parachinar, Pakistan, Shia communities in India held protests and candlelight vigils urging the Indian government to take action. In Lucknow, demonstrators criticized the Pakistani government for failing to protect Shia lives and called for international intervention, while the All India Shia Hussaini Fund emphasized the need for security for Shias in Pakistan. Meanwhile, Imran Ansari, head of the All Jammu and Kashmir Shia Association, wrote to External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, highlighting the dire situation faced by Shias due to escalating sectarian violence and urging India to assert its moral obligation to act. Ansari's appeal reflects a growing concern about the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Pakistan, where extremist groups threaten the Shia minority. Both protests and official letters call for immediate measures to prevent further bloodshed and to ensure the rights and safety of Shia Muslims.
