Bryce Harper Named NL All-Star First Baseman
Philadelphia Phillies star Bryce Harper has been named the starting first baseman for the National League in the 2024 MLB All-Star Game, marking his eighth All-Star selection. Harper received the most votes in Phase 1 of fan voting with 3,277,920 votes, becoming the first Phillies player to win the fan vote at first base since John Kruk in 1993. Harper is having a stellar season, batting .305 with 20 home runs and 57 RBIs, and is a strong contender for the NL MVP, though he's in a close race with Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Phillies lead the league with a 53-27 record and have six players advancing to Phase 2 of All-Star voting. The 2024 MLB All-Star Game will take place on July 16 at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.
