Video footage shows Zubac initially in a scuffle before security intervenes, while Šarić, who tried to help, was put in a chokehold. The Croatian Basketball Federation claimed the players acted in self-defense after being attacked. The incident, which did not involve police, occurred at Bolivar Beach Bar and was quickly contained by security. Croatia's defeat by Greece ended their hopes of qualifying for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
