Hurricane Beryl Aftermath: Deaths and Power Outages
The aftermath of Hurricane Beryl has left millions in Texas without power, exacerbated by a return of extreme heat, making recovery efforts more challenging. At least ten people have died, including a woman who couldn't use her oxygen machine due to the power outage. Hospitals are overwhelmed, and temporary facilities are being set up to accommodate patients awaiting discharge. Flash flood warnings have been issued across New Orleans and parts of Illinois, with heavy rains expected to persist through Wednesday. The remnants of Beryl continue to cause heavy rainfall and flooding risks as they move north, impacting areas as far as New Hampshire and Chicago. The National Weather Service has advised residents in affected areas to avoid driving through flooded roads and to be cautious of rising water levels.
