Nova Scotia electricity projects
The federal government of Canada has announced a $192 million investment in clean energy projects across Nova Scotia, aimed at reducing reliance on coal and transitioning to renewable energy sources. Key allocations include $117.6 million for Nova Scotia Power to install battery energy storage systems and grid modernization, alongside several wind energy projects receiving $25 million each. These projects involve partnerships with local Indigenous groups and aim to develop significant wind energy capacities in Windsor, Higgins Mountain, and the District of Argyle. Minister of Energy Jonathan Wilkinson emphasized the importance of this funding in supporting the electrification of the economy and enhancing the efficiency of the power grid. Furthermore, additional announcements regarding green hydrogen projects are expected as part of the ongoing clean energy initiatives. This investment aligns with the goals outlined in the Nova Scotia Regional Energy and Resource Table Framework for Collaboration on the Path to Net Zero.
