Suchi Semicon, a semiconductor manufacturing firm based in Surat, has announced a $100 million investment to establish Gujarat's first Semiconductor Assembly and Testing (OSAT) facility, expected to launch by November 2024. The initial plant will span 30,000 square feet, with a production capacity of up to 3 million chips daily and the potential to create around 1,200 jobs, thereby supporting local economic growth. This facility aims to serve significant sectors such as consumer electronics, automobiles, telecommunications, and wearables, addressing the growing global demand for semiconductors while reducing supply chain inefficiencies. Suchi Semicon has signed memorandums of understanding with local engineering institutions to promote skill development and ensure a highly skilled workforce. The project has received government backing, with Gujarat contributing incentives equivalent to 20% of the project cost, and the company is also seeking approval for additional subsidies under the India Semiconductor Mission. The founders emphasized their commitment to enhancing India's position in the global tech landscape through this pivotal venture.
