Before achieving fame as a Hollywood action star, Jason Statham was a competitive diver who represented England at the 1990 Commonwealth Games. Despite his best efforts, he did not secure a medal, with his highest placement being eighth in the 1m springboard event. Statham also attempted to qualify for the 1988 and 1992 Olympics but was unsuccessful, which he described as a 'sore point.' His interest in diving began during a family holiday in Florida, leading him to join a diving club at age 11 or 12. After his diving career, Statham transitioned to modeling and eventually acting, becoming famous for his roles in action films. Interestingly, many fans are only now discovering his athletic past.
