Seven Arrested in Mendoza Terror Cell Raid
Argentina's Federal Police dismantled an alleged Islamist terrorist cell planning attacks on the Jewish community in Mendoza. Security Minister Patricia Bullrich announced that seven members were arrested following eight raids, which resulted in the seizure of firearms, knives, electronic devices, and terrorist propaganda. The investigation began after threats against a Jewish journalist were reported, leading to the discovery of the group's activities on messaging platforms such as Telegram and WhatsApp. Argentina, home to Latin America's largest Jewish population, has a history of deadly attacks against its Jewish community, including a 1994 bombing that killed 85 people. President Javier Milei has recently committed to enhancing national intelligence to prevent future attacks. The incident follows the January arrests of three individuals with Syrian and Lebanese citizenships suspected of plotting a terrorist attack.
