Typhoon Shanshan Causes Severe Disruptions in Japan
Typhoon Shanshan has struck southern Japan with devastating force, bringing gusts of up to 252 kph and causing significant flooding and landslides. The Japan Meteorological Agency has issued the highest-level warnings for Kagoshima prefecture, forecasting up to 60 centimeters of rain within 24 hours. Tragically, three people have been reported dead from a landslide, with three others missing, while injuries continue to mount across affected regions, including Miyazaki. Authorities have urged residents to evacuate and seek shelter, especially vulnerable populations such as the elderly. Disaster Management Minister Yoshifumi Matsumura warned of unprecedented weather conditions, with transportation and daily activities severely disrupted. As the typhoon moves northward, officials remain on high alert for further damage across Japan.
