US Sanctions 400 Entities Linked to Russia's War Effort
The U.S. has imposed sweeping sanctions on nearly 400 entities and individuals across Russia, China, Turkey, the UAE, and Belarus for supporting Russia's war effort in Ukraine. The sanctions target suppliers of military and defense equipment, including microprocessors and machine tools, and aim to disrupt Russia's military-industrial supply chains. Companies from these countries are sanctioned for providing critical goods and evading previous sanctions. Additionally, the sanctions focus on Russia's energy, metals, and mining sectors, as well as financial tech firms and those involved in the re-education of Ukrainian children. These measures were announced ahead of Ukraine’s Independence Day and follow commitments made by President Biden and G7 leaders to increase pressure on Russia. U.S. officials reiterated their commitment to crippling Russia's revenue from energy projects while responding to recent Ukrainian military incursions into Russian territory.
