Indian Government Launches FloodWatch India 2.0 App

The Indian government has launched FloodWatch India 2.0, an upgraded mobile app designed to provide real-time flood alerts and forecasts from 592 monitoring stations nationwide. Unveiled by Union Minister for Jal Shakti CR Paatil, the app aims to enhance public safety amidst ongoing flooding in various states caused by excessive monsoon rains. The updated version also includes information on the storage levels of 150 major reservoirs, facilitating better understanding of potential flooding in downstream areas. Utilizing advanced technologies such as satellite data analysis and mathematical modeling, the app delivers timely and accurate forecasts in both English and Hindi. This initiative reflects the government's commitment to leveraging technology for disaster preparedness and community resilience. FloodWatch India 2.0 is available for free on both Android and iOS devices, making critical flood information widely accessible to users.
