Two Men Indicted on Gun Charges in New York
James Jayshaun Edwards, a 33-year-old man from Long Beach, has been indicted on multiple charges, including selling 10 illegal firearms linked to shootings in Queens and Nassau County and drug trafficking. Edwards allegedly operated an illegal weapons sales business from his apartment, selling firearms openly and packaging them in duffle bags and diaper boxes. He faces serious charges such as Criminal Sale of a Firearm in the First Degree and Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance, with the potential for 25 years in prison if convicted. In a separate case, Joel Kelly, 60, from Rockaway Beach, has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly firing a ghost gun at two NYPD officers during a police pursuit in Edgemere. Kelly's case includes 10 counts, with maximum penalties reaching up to 40 years to life in prison. Both cases highlight ongoing concerns about illegal firearms and violence in New York City.
